In case you've been living under a rock, Justin Bieber's new album, Purpose, is FINALLY here, and you can pick it up in stories or on iTunes. It's been three years since the release of his last album, Believe, and since then, Justin has had quite the journey through many aspects of his life up until this point. But after finding his purpose again, we have a new body of music to embrace ... and all we have to say is JUST BELIEB.
Justin opened up to us about his new album Purpose and his evolution as a performer in an exclusive interview, and it sounds like the pop star has been doing a lot of growing over the last three years.
In a new Purpose album trailer, Justin says that after growing up in the spotlight for most of his life, he lost his purpose for a little while, but has found it again. And that's what this new album is all about.
Justin Bieber on the significance of his new album Purpose
"The significance of my album Purpose is basically just to let people know that whether you lost your purpose, or you don't feel like you have a purpose, it's really important you find it."
Purpose contains 14 new tracks (19 on the deluxe version), which includes his singles "What Do You Mean?," Where Are Ü Now," and "Sorry." The album is 48 minutes and 13 seconds of amazing music which features a number of collaborations with some the most talented artists like Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Big Sean, Skrillex, Diplo, Nas, and Halsey.
Also included on Purpose is a song called "I'll Show You," which Justin recently released as a promotional single on November 2nd, and put out a music video for. With lyrics like, "This life's not easy, I'm not made out of steel/Don't forget that I'm human, don't forget that I'm real," it seems the song is a response to the various events that have transpired over the last few years. But Justin tells us that he's grown a lot during that time.
As all of the Beliebers out there know, and as previously mentioned, production from Skrillex and Diplo appear in many songs on this album, like on "Where Are Ü Now," and the Skrillex-produced "Sorry" (along with Blood), "Children," and more. But Justin tells us that working with the two producers was his favorite memory from the making of Purpose.
On what it was like working with Skrillex and Diplo for the album
"My favorite memory of making Purpose was probably being in the studio with Skrillex and Diplo, and just being able to collaborate on such a level head and everyone on the same page. It was really cool."
On how he's grown as a professional over the years
"I think I've grown over the years just mentally, physically, spiritually, [and] getting better at what I do. I think that if you're not growing, you're not living."
Well, now that Justin has found his purpose again, Beliebers should be happy to know that he plans on keeping his music career going for a very long time, and has a special message for all of his loyal fans:
"What a crazy road it's been, and a long road ahead of me -- probably until [my] 70s or 80s I'll be doing this. But thank you so much for playing my new album."
