Have you seen "The Heat"?
I FINALLY saw it on Sunday. Went to the movie theatre by myself (really wanted a chill day) and saw it. First, it was HILARIOUS. You'd have to appreciate extremely sarcastic and off-color remarks to truly enjoy it. Second....there was a couple of weight/size related things I noticed that I REALLY appreciated.
1) I could be wrong.....but I don't remember ONE weight-related reference to Melissa McCarthy. And every single character in that movie was made fun of for their appearance in some way. This is an AWESOME step towards progress, if it's true.
2) In the movie, Melissa McCarthy was the chick that got mad-action, not Sandra Bullock. She was the one turning dudes down, always getting asked out and sleeping with people. On the contrary, Sandra Bullock was the shy one without many friends and certainly no dates.
Way to go! A positive step towards 1) putting females as LEADS in movies and 2) not giving size-discrimination any power. Love!
