The State Senate voted 26-7 yesterday to give final approval to name the older, western span of the Bay Bridge the "Willie L. Brown, Jr." Bridge. The vote came over the objections of both Gov. Jerry Brown and three former San Francisco Board of Supervisors presidents.
“I didn’t push for it, and I can’t say I enjoyed the pounding it got, but I am honored,” former Mayor Brown said after the vote.
