THE TOP 1O WAYS to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle:

1.   Recycle whenever and wherever possible. Find out what’s recyclable at work and your home/community so that you are properly recycling all waste.

2.   Use re-usable water bottles made from stainless steel, coated aluminum or BPA free hard plastic.

3.   Utilize re-usable grocery and produce bags whenever and wherever possible.
4.   Pack lunches for kids and adults in reusable lunch bag or box with reusable silverware.

5.   Say no to over packaging. For example, when getting take out food, bring your own bag or containers to house/carry food and decline the plastic silverware and napkins offered.

6.   Try to avoid buying goods in non-recyclable packaging.

7.   Buy DURABLE items that are meant to last and take care of them. Before you buy think of how you will dispose of the item responsibly at the end of it’s life.

8.   Say no to plastic bags and reduce plastic use in your home whenever possible, especially for food contact.  Instead, try glass and stainless steel containers.

9.   Recycle wine corks, batteries, ink cartridges, cell phones, plastic bags, #5 plastics and Brita pitcher water filters at Whole Foods Market. (Note: recycling programs vary at each store, so call ahead to be sure.)

10. Cook more at home using local unpackaged produce in season and staples like rice, nuts and legumes from the bulk section of Whole Foods Market.
